Live Nativities and Creche Exhibits in Utah
We love to visit a live nativity at Christmastime. With all the commercialism the holiday brings, it’s important to our family to focus on Christ, whose birth we celebrate this time of year.
We know many Utah families also enjoy this tradition of focusing on Christ, so we wanted to share with you where the live nativities and creche exhibits are this season. Please note: During the 2020 Covid season, MOST EVENTS ARE CANCELED. We note those that are canceled this year but leave them on the list for our reference next year.
By the way, if the word creche (and it should have an accent over the first e) threw you off in the title, don’t worry. It did for me, too, when I first heard it. For those who don’t know, it’s a french word that means a nativity model or scene.
Now, onto the live nativities and creche exhibits:
Dec 11, 12 & 14, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Live animals and scenes of Christ’s birth. Includes Nibley Morgan Farm. Monetary donations and canned goods appreciated to support the Cache Community Food pantry. Details here.

Lights and Nativity at Temple Square
The seasonal lights are ready and musical performances are being recorded for the 2020 Christmas season on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. The virtual celebration of the Savior’s birth will be different than what visitors to Temple Square have experienced in the past, but organizers say it will once again be a beautiful and inspirational experience.
The lights on Temple Square will only be viewable from surrounding roads and exterior city sidewalks as the plaza will be fenced off and the gates will be closed at 4:30 p.m., with no public access to Temple Square. The lights will turn on at 5 p.m. Those walking by are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing. No public parking will be available in the Conference Center or Joseph Smith Memorial Building parking lots. Details here.
